What’s hotter than a turtle on the Hennepin Bridge in July, tastier than a ’67 Nova, and sweeter than the fishing opener? This season, you can find the answer at Target Field. Yesterday, the Twins (@MinnesotaTwins) tweeted: “It’s not Jim’s Apple Pie. It’s Minnie-Apple Pie” to announce that Cottage Grill’s Minneapple Pie has been added to the concession-stand roster.
If you’re not already acquainted with the fried goodness of a Minneapple Pie, here’s the lowdown on this 94-year old treat.
While Walk-a-taco, Turkey to Go, and Kosher hot dogs are all welcomed newcomers, we’re most excited that Rogers, Minnesota, Cottage Grill will be bringing its signature pies to the game.
These deep-fried, preservative-free hand pies are nothing like their gas station, two-for-$1 cousins. They’re based on a perfected family recipe that results in the optimal apple filling to flaky crust ratio. A generous dusting of cinnamon and sugar finishes up the dessert’s equation quite nicely.
Even if you don’t care enough about baseball to play hooky from work on a spring afternoon, this bit of warm, apple deliciousness should be sufficient incentive to visit Target Field this year.
